City officials in Cape Girardeau passed a motion to give the Aquatic Committee permission to partner with the Cape Girardeau school board to build brand new aquatics facility at Jefferson Elementary. The decision was made at a board meeting on Monday. City leaders voted in favor of the proposal overwhelmingly. The construction of the new pool is not official because the school board has to approve construction. A decision will be agreed upon during a board meeting next Thursday. Funding also has to be agreed apron. The decision will be in question until April when the school bond issue will be decided on.
