A house fire was reported just after the clock struck midnight on Halloween. The fire took place inside a vacant home on 803 Independence Street. The fire began on the second floor of the home. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation at this time. The spread of the fire was so large that it took several crews to extinguish the blaze. Firemen were able to contain the fire in under 20 minutes. There was over  $50,000 in damages to the home. Most of the damage was on the upstairs floor, but the first floor sustained significant water damage.
