Renovations Starting on Capaha Park and Surrounding Areas

Renovations have begun on Capaha Field. The city of Gape Girardeau is beginning to renovate the grandstand and construct a new fence around the field. There will also be new lights installed at the field as well. The city is planning to have all the renovations completed by February because Southeast Missouri State begins their baseball season during  that time. In addition to the upgrades to the field there is going to be a splash pad and new restrooms built. City construction crews broke ground for the new splash pad and restrooms on Monday, September 17, 2018. Construction will be a year long process. The upgrades to the ball field will take up the entire winter season. The splash pad won’t be installed until the weather changes in spring.   In addition to all these upgrades, the roadway leading to the ball field will be repaved. A playground will also be built on the park’s east side.
