HARVIELL, Mo. (AP) — A southeast Missouri man remains hospitalized nearly two weeks after he was badly injured when he got stuck in the midst of a fight between two bulls.
Relatives told the Poplar Bluff Daily American Republic that 75-year-old Bob Newcomb of Harviell suffered 16 rib fractures, a collapsed lung and two fractured vertebrae on Aug. 10. He’s being treated at a St. Louis hospital.
Newcomb and other relatives operate Newcomb Bucking Bulls. He was loading two bulls onto a trailer for transport when they began to fight.
One of the bulls kicked a partition as Newcomb was trying to close it, knocking him to the ground. With Newcomb on the ground in a confined area, the bulls continued their fight, trampling him.
Newcomb’s wife was able to chase the bulls away.
