Man found fatally stabbed behind Walmart in Shrewsbury

SHREWSBURY, Mo. (AP) — Two people described as “persons of interest” are in police custody after a man was found fatally stabbed behind a Walmart store in suburban St. Louis.

The victim, believed to be around 33 years old, was found Monday night in a wooded area behind the store in Shrewsbury. His name has not been released. St. Louis County police say the man had been stabbed several times.

Police announced Tuesday that a 28-year-old man and 21-year-old woman were in custody, but say the investigation remains “very active.”

Homicides are uncommon in Shrewsbury, a town of about 6,000 residents. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, citing city crime statistics, reported that a 2017 killing was the first in Shrewsbury in at least 15 years.
