MO bill would put restrictions on child marriage

A Missouri bill would ban marriage of children 14 years-old and younger. Current state law allows those between the ages of 15 and 17 can get married with parent permission and those under the age of 14 must have a judge’s approval. The new law would require those between 15 and 17 to get permission to marry from a judge and ban the issuing of marriage licenses to children 14 years old and younger. The bill would also ban marriage if one partner is 21-years-old or older and the othe is 17 years old and younger.
