Illinois Sheriff’s Association is awarding $53,500 scholarships this year with four winners being from Jackson County. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office will be awarding $500 scholarships to each qualified candidate. Qualified candidates must be a permanent Illinois resident attending an Illinois institution as a full time student and must use the scholarship for tuition, fees and books. Candidates must fill out an application and write an essay. The ISA says there will be no discrimination or restriction on applications and winners will be based on merit set by the organization. Applications are due March 15 and can be found at ilsheriff.org.
