Greitens’ appointments step down over fight for confirmations

Three of Missouri Governor Eric Greitens’ appointments to the states Missouri Housing development Commissions low-income housing tax credit board have resigned after fights in the senate over their confirmations. Several senators spoke out Wednesday to block Greitens from withdrawing their appointments which would spare them from being banned for life if not approved by the senate. Last year, Greitens and his appointees voted to stop issuing tax credits to subsidize places to live in poorer areas of the state. Both Republicans and Democrats have criticized the governor for stacking boards with his appointees to enact policy change and leadership changes. Earlier this year, Greitens used his appointees to the Board of Education to oust its director.
