Missouri has begun collecting and investigating the state’s opioid prescription data. The new statewide drug monitoring program was created through an executive order signed by Governor Eric Greitens last summer. The program collects data from doctors and clinics to try and identify those who overprescribe painkillers. 500 people in Missouri died of overdoses in 2016.
