IL subcommittee exploring digital currencies to be formed

Lawmakers in Illinois are forming a subcommittee to explore the potential policies regarding digital currencies like Bitcoin. Digital currencies are currencies not regulated by a bank or government and are not currently recognized by the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, but lawmakers think it could have benefits and help the state more efficient. The subcommittee will be chaired by Mike Zalweski whose goal is to decide if the currencies are a worthy investment.
