Rauner’s prepared pension being discussed by committee

Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner released a 400-page proposal last week that will be discussed by a committee next week. The proposed plan would prohibit unions from collective bargaining on issues like wages. The plan would also freeze wages for five years and would give workers the choices of a raise, more vacation hours, or overtime only if they agree to a less generous pension plan after the wages are unfrozen. Committee members questioned the proposal changes in light of the Illinois Supreme Court ruling a 2013 pension law unconstitutional.
