IL citizens pledge millions to private school scholarships

Illinois citizens pledged $36 million for private school scholarships Tuesday according to Governor Bruce Rauner. A tax credit passed last year as part of school funding allows citizens and corporations to pledge money to private school scholarships in exchange for a credit worth 75 percent of their donation up to $1 million. Eligible donations are capped at $100 million. The first day to pledge was Tuesday.
