New gun laws are being discussed in Illinois. A ban on trigger modification devices like bump stocks has been approved by the judiciary committee. Bump stocks were used by the shooter in the mass shooting in Las Vegas that killed 58 people earlier this month. The new law would ban the knowing sale, manufacture, purchase, possession or carrying of these types of devices. Another bill would ban the possession of assault weapons, assault weapon attachments and .50 caliber rifles and cartridges. Antique weapons, black powder weapons, and weapons registered with State Police before a certain date would be exempt from the law.
