Illinois is joining the fight for Amazon’s second headquarters. Amazon is taking requests from communities around the country to open a new headquarters identical to the one in Seattle. The company says 50,000 jobs could be added to the community they choose over the next ten years. The company is asking for at least 100-acres of land in communities of more than one million people with access to highways, public transportation and proximity to good universities. Illinois governor Bruce Rauner announced to the Chicago Southland Convention and Visitors Bureau Thursday that the state’s bid would be unveiled next week.
