Police have ruled the murder of a transgender teen in southern Missouri was not a hate crime. The burned remains Ally Steinfield, born Joseph Steinfield, were found near the mobile home she shared with girlfriend Briana Calderas and three others. The 17-year-old had her eyes gouged at and was stabbed in the genitals. Calderas and two other suspects, Andrew Vrba and Isis Schafer, are being charged with murder. A fourth suspect is being charged with abandoning a corpse and tampering with evidence. Steinfield had been missing for weeks prior to the discovery of her body days ago. Posters and advertisements for the missing teen referred to Steinfield by her birth name and gender. Steinfield came out as transgender in June.
