KY abortion clinic in court to stay open

Kentucky’s last abortion clinic is fighting in court to stay open. EMW Women’s Surgical Clinic in Louisville brought the state to court after receiving a notice in March that their license was deficient. The state requires clinics to sign care and transport agreements with medical centers and ambulance companies in order to meet licensing requirements. EMW received notice saying their agreement was deficient because the signature was not verified and the agreement made no assurance that care would be provided. Both the clinic and the state say they are fighting to determine what does and does not limit a woman’s right to an abortion.
