Madigan cancels school-funding session

Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan cancelled a scheduled session concerning education funding yesterday. House members were scheduled to gather to vote on Rauner’s veto of the proposed school funding bill. The House needs 71 to override Rauner’s amendments to the proposed evidence-based education funding plan that Rauner says unfairly favors Chicago schools. Madigan said he cancelled the session to allow negotiations to continue one more day.
