Mizzou fraternity facing lawsuit

A former fraternity pledge at University of Missouri-Columbia is suing the fraternity and its parent organization. Brandon Zingale claims he and his fellow Alpha Kappa Order pledge brothers were victims of hazing when they were convinced to participate in a vodka-chugging contest in September of last year. Zingdale was left alone over night. He was rushed to the hospital 10 hours later after he was found unconscious. He had a blood alcohol level of .41, five times the state’s threshold intoxication range considered lethal. The chapter had already been placed on semester-long probation for providing alcohol to minors. A month after Zingdale’s case was reported, the chapter was expelled and unable to be recognized on campus for five years. Zingdale left the university to join the military.
