State of Missouri being sued over voter ID law

Civil rights groups are suing the state of Missouri over the state voter ID law. In November, state legislatures voted to require Missouri residents to show a photo ID to vote or sign a statement saying they didn’t have on. American Civil Liberties Union and the Advancement Project have filed a suit against the state saying it has not appropriated the appropriate funding for education and providing IDs to citizens that need them. Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft toured Missouri last week to spread the word about the new law and said the state would provide every citizen with the appropriate ID for free.
