Mississippi County’s sheriff has been suspended pending investigation. Missouri’s Attorney General Josh Hawley asked a judge to remove Cory Hutcheson from his position following the death of a Mississippi County inmate on Friday following an altercation that included Hutcheson. Hawley said in a statement Hutcheson’s license on sheriff was suspended during the time of the altercation after the Attorney General’s office charged Hutcheson with robbery, assault and illegal surveillance. The Attorney General’s office is launching an investigation of Hutcheson and the inmate’s death. Hutcheson was removed from his post to prevent him interfering in the investigation.
