Birth Right to Expand Services to Marble Hill

Birthright officials in Cape Girardeau are making plans to open a branch in Marble Hill in the spring time. Officials are currently searching for either office space or a two bed room house.  Officials say they are currently working with area real- estate agents. Once the branch office opens it will be in operation two days a week, but the hours of operation are yet to be determined. Birthright is a non for profit pregnancy resource center and the office in Cape Girardeau is among twenty-one locations in Missouri. It is the only facility in operation from Festus to Memphis. Officials say, after being in operation since 1973 the office is seeking to branch out because they received a sizeable donation from the Springfield – Cape Girardeau diocese . They say the idea was brought about while they were brainstorming ideas about how to use the money and they felt the best way to use it was to invest it in the company’s moms that they help and the idea is now a reality. Officials say they made the decision to branch out in to Marble Hill due to the towns’ lack of transportation. The new branch will be put in place to provide care for expecting mothers and infants from newborns up to one year old. The office in Cape Girardeau serves expecting mothers and children from newborns to three years-old. It is not required that pregnant woman have the need for financial assistance to be eligible for Birthright services. Officials say they will provide services to anyone who comes through their doors. Birthright is currently looking for volunteers to work at the new Marble Hill location. Anyone, who is interested in becoming a volunteer should contact the Cape Girardeau Birthright office or send an email to  birthrightcape@att.nett
