The body of a man found in a wooded area near Marion, Illinois has been identified. Officials say, Dewayne Allen Lyerla, 34 of Johnston City, was found dead on Monday, Nov. 4. An autopsy was performed on Tuesday. Burke said preliminary results will not be available for another three-to-four weeks. Lyerla’s body was found by a Marion and Herrin Police K-9 in a wooded area near Longstreet Road, east of Illinois Route 37. The discovery of Lyerla started after police received a call about a disturbance at a local hotel early Monday morning. During the investigation, two people of interest drove away from the scene with Marion Police in pursuit. The suspect’s vehicle lost control and crashed on Longstreet Rd. The case is still being investigated.
