Jackson Fire Department to Begin Construction on 9/11 Memorial Tomorrow

There will be a ground break on a 9/11 memorial at the Jackson Fire Department tomorrow at 10:30.a.m. Wednesday is the 18th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. In addition to honoring the victims, who tragically lost their lives that day, the memorial is being constructed to pay tribute to area firemen, who were killed in a line of Duty. Fire officials say, the memorial plaza will have a pentagon shaped base made of pavestones and a statue of a kneeling firefighter facing two black granite towers. The towers are a resemblance of the twin towers. The names of the firemen, who lost their lives will be inside the towers. In addition to those firemen, who lost their lives in New York names of local heroes will be inscribed on the pavement walkway to get to the memorial. Officials hope to have construction completed by next spring.
