Elderly Man To Serve Probation for Bank Robbery

An elderly man, who robbed a bank in July has been will be required to serve four years of probation. He must also spend 180 days on house arrest along with ten weekends in jail. The man was identified as 82 year-old Arthur Bays. The verdict was given to him in connection with holding up a bank in the summer of last year. Prosecutors say, the suspect held up the State Bank of Whittington, in Benton, on July 26, 2018. He left the bank with close to $15,000. He was taken into custody on the same day at his Marion home. Police were able to recover a large sum of the money. Bays were ordered to pay back the $1,753 that wasn’t recovered.
